PRINCE GEORGE AIRPORT EXPANSION, PHASE I and II

Prince George - British Columbia

State-of-the-art timber fabrication techniques help combine a rich palette of structural and cladding materials into a highly expressive and finely detailed structure.

The two-phase expansion of the Prince George Airport includes the construction of a domestic departure and arrival lounge, an international arrival lounge complete with customs offices, new security areas and baggage handling facilities for both domestic and international areas.

Different structural materials are elegantly combined to achieve a simple yet expressive and elegant structure, with a particular emphasis on detailing. State-of-the-art polyurethane glue glulam, notably pristine for it’s lack of black glue lines, is finely crafted using 5 axis CNC equipment. The beauty of the premium glulam material is emphasized through the use of discrete stainless steel tight-fit pin connections. The double glazed structural glass air-side façade is supported by sand-cast ductaline castings, shaped and designed in conjunction with the architect.
