First North-American use of polyurethane glue glulam and three dimensional, 5 axis CNC shaping produces an elegant glulam form. |
The crow, one of the band’s totem, and the feather form inspired this entrance canopy structure. Made of glue laminated Douglas Fir, the canopy centre beam, symbolizing the quill, was shaped in a variable ellipsoid cross section using the state-of-the-art 5 axis Creneau at the Structurlam plant in Penticton. White polyurethane adhesive was used for the first time in glulam in North America, to avoid unsightly (black) glue marks as the CNC feathered across the glue lines. |
