College of New Caledonia Technical Trades Centre

Quesnel - British Columbia

The 28,000 square foot Quesnel TEC Technical Education Center is one of two new facilities designed for the College of New Caledonia, securing their position as leaders of trades and technology education in Northern BC. The design takes advantage of solar orientation with a central atrium arranging workshop spaces to the north, and classroom and staff areas to the south overlooking the Fraser River.
The two-storey structure consists of concrete block masonry walls and structural steel floor and roof construction. Material selection is intentionally industrial and appropriate to its purpose with local wood products being showcased in public areas. The building is LEED Gold certified.
