Liard River Hotpsrings Amenity Structures

Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park - British Columbia

The Liard River Hot Springs is located in the Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park north of Muncho Lake and is considered to be the second largest hot spring in Canada. Having reached their useful life, the existing timber deck and change room facilities no longer meet the parks needs and safety requirements and need replacement.
The project consists of new separate men and women change rooms to replace the existing structure, an expanded and upgraded deck and a new dam. The deck is semi-circular in plan, centered on the hot springs. Stepped levels of canal-salvaged ipe provide generous space for descent into the springs. The change room and most of the deck structure bear on helical piles due to the very soft soils adjacent to the springs.
