Equilibrium Consulting Inc. is an award-winning mid-sized consulting structural engineering firm working on a diverse range of ambitious projects both locally and internationally. Eric Karsh founded the practice in Vancouver in 1998 with a focus on progressive and innovative building projects, particularly those utilizing timber construction.
Equilibrium was until recently owned by Katerra, a US based construction start-up, with Eric regaining full control of the company in August 2021. With our head office in Vancouver, we have ambitious plans for the future and have recently started expansion into the United States and France. We are looking for a talented and ambitious structural engineer with 10+ years of experience as we grow the team on the west coast.

– Establishing and growing Equilibrium’s bay area office.
– Collaborating with fantastic architects.
– Learning every day.
– Innovating and pushing boundaries.
– Undertaking structural design on exciting, innovative and award-winning projects – (focusing on Timber buildings).
– Maintaining and developing client relationships.
– If you’re lucky, the occasional ski or downhill mountain biking trip to Whistler.

– Ability to manage projects and manage operations.
– Must be motivated, creative, curious, and pleasant to work with.
– Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred.
– Licensed Engineer in CA (PE and/or SE).
– Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a similar role working on commercial and institutional type work.
– Expertise in high seismic design to US codes.
– Must be interested in mass timber. Mass timber experience a bonus.
– Must care about the planet and strive to find ways to lower our impact.
– Valid work status in the US.
